The Historical and Folklore Heritage Exhibition is located in Sarchos, 22 km from Heraklion. The new space of culture and tradition is housed in the historical building of the old primary school of Sarchos, which was completely renovated to house the museum. The Exhibition Hall was inaugurated on May 14th, 2019. In the area, the visitor can see traditional costumes, church vestments, images of sights of the village etc. The historical part of the collection is highlighted by the display of documents and documents of the historical course of Sarchos. Copies of paintings and hagiographies by painter Georgios Xylouris (1869-1924) are also important. Copies of the paintings are part of his dissertation. The fresco depicting the Byzantine double-headed eagle stands out, as well as the image of the Holy Trinity with the globe showing the American continent.
The Exhibition of Historical and Folklore Heritage also includes a tribute to the fallen of Sarchos. The wood-carved cross is significant, with 38 smaller crosses adorning it - that is, those who fell during the period 1940-1944. The cross is the work of woodcarver Marinos Makrakis.
The library also houses the library of the Malevizi Cultural Association, where more than 1500 books have been placed and classified, all as a result of donations. Finally, in the yard, there is a garden with identified plants of Crete, which in addition to an aesthetic purpose, also have an educational one.
