Traditional Watermill
Spread the word
The traditional grinding watermill is located in Krousonas, which is 21 km from Heraklion. The watermill was built in the late 19th-early 20th century and followed the established, for the time, architectural type with an internal, horizontal water wheel (impeller), a high water tower and a big rainwater cistern. The watermill operated until almost the middle of the 1950s, being the main industrial facility of Krousonas. Due to its prominent position (among the village houses), it is a landmark for the whole settlement.
