The best varieties of cucumber are Cretan. From the small tender cucumbers of Knossos to all the other cucumber varieties, the cucumbers produced in Crete and especially in the Municipality of Malevizi are the most delicious.
Xylangoura and kossakia are among the most famous Cretan varieties. But even these are divided into smaller ones. There are the long ones with light green skin and the thick ones with the "engraved" surface. They are delicious even when they are eaten alone, only with a bit of salt.
