The "blessed" place hosts one of the most extensive vineyards in Greece in size and production. With a history that dates back to the Minoan era, the Cretan vineyard has a constant presence and production, making it one of the oldest - if not the oldest - in Europe.
Crete produces many fine wines from local Cretan and unique grape varieties, but Malvasia di Candia, a particularly aromatic and dry wine, is typical of the region. Many of them have won significant awards in international competitions.
