Raki (or tsikoudia) is the traditional Cretan drink for welcoming guests and the accompanying drink in moments of joy.
It is combined with traditional Cretan rakomezes (light dishes that go well with raki) but also with spoon sweets. Rakomelo is the Cretan favourite winter treat. In its modern version, tsikoudia and rakomelo, we find tsikoudia with flavours such as tsikoudia with almond, orange, strawberry, coffee etc.
