Aidonochori, as a community, has been given this name for about 70 years, while it pre-existed as a settlement with the name "Metochia of the Community of Kamarioti".
It is located at an altitude of 565 metres. It is 27 kilometres from the city of Heraklion and consists of three small settlements, Kato Metochi, Pitsuliana in the middle and Pano Metochi.
The school building is one of the first, if not the first, built in the Prefecture of Heraklion in 1900. It was renovated during the Municipality of Tylissos and is the seat of the Cultural Association.
The Association holds events on May Day - weather permitting - in the surrounding area every year. The infrastructure for the visitors to prepare their delicacies safely (grills, charcoals) and then sit and enjoy them at the Association's tables, accompanied by music organised by the Association, is always available. Aidonochori is a place of exceptional natural beauty and, especially in Spring, is an ideal destination for natural environment lovers. For visitors, it is possible to tour the settlements and the unique rocks with rare fingerprints.
In the place "Armanogia", there are traces of the Hellenistic period. At the same time, in the areas "Trohaliades" and "Chantakou", the ruins of buildings that exist "betray" the Minoans of the area life. Also, in the " Sopata " place, a huge round stone shows us the location of sacrifices during the Minoan period.
