Church of Agios Konstantinos and Eleni
The church of Agios Konstantinos and Eleni is located in the mountain village of Astyraki, which is 27 km from Heraklion. Its celebration is held on May 21st. The church has been built next to the Astyrakas ancient tree (Styrax officinalis), from which the village took its name.
According to tradition, the icon of the Saints left from the east side of the village (where there is an iconostasis) every night and “magically” was hung in Astyrakas, while during the day, unknown how, it was again back in the iconostasis.
