Koutsounari is a natural spring located in an arable area at the foothills of mount Kavallaras, in the village of Korfes. The village is 20 km from Heraklion and is built at an altitude of 290 meters.
In the Cretan dialect, "koutsounari" ("tsounari") is the tap, the fountain. The word "koutsounari" is found in Crete in various place names with precisely this meaning.
