Cave at the Pytharaki area at Tylissos
The cave at the Pytharaki area in Tylissos is just 1 km from Voulismeno Aloni and 14 km from Heraklion. It is located at an altitude of 250 metres. It became known in 2010 during the opening works of the new Tylissos - Anogia road.
The entrance to the cave is made through a small hole in the ground by people who have extensive speleological experience. At the end of the cave, there is the only small room that has been left with an impressive array of columns. Specifically, jellyfish-like formations, colourful "curtains", white stalactites and stalagmites in unexpected colours flood the entire space leaving the visitor speechless.
