Kamaraki is located at the northeastern foothills of Psiloritis and is built at an altitude of 540 meters. It is 27 km from Heraklion and has just 14 permanent residents. Kamaraki is another Byzantine settlement of Malevizi and was mentioned in the 13th century for the first time, in the sectarian Santa Crose, as a manor of the Venetian territories. In 1583, in the Castle Guard inventory, it was referred to as Camarachi.
At the settlement entrance, the traditional windmill for grinding grain is preserved in a pretty good condition. At the same time, to the northwest (at Asfentamos-Kefali), the Hainospilios cave (or Marmarospilios) is one of the most important in Greece.
