The chapel of Archangel Michael is built at Riza in the area of Gournos, west of Krousonas (which is 21 km from Heraklion). Formerly, the area was called "Trochalakos". The small church was built in 1875 by a stonecutter from Krousani called Michelis. The chapel stands out for its quirky architecture and celebrates on November 8th. The brave chief from Krousonas, Captain George Giamalis, is buried in its courtyard.
