Traditional olive mill at Sarchos
The traditional oil mill is located in the village of Sarchos, which is 22 km from Heraklion. The oil mill dates back to the early 20th century.
It is a ground floor stone building of rectangular plan. The roof of the building is wooden, covered with tiles. The facade of the building is simple, with a wooden entrance door and a large window.
Inside, there is a wooden chamber with a staircase, while a stone arch stands on the inside wall. The oil mill is maintained in excellent condition, and, today, it houses the Folklore Museum.
