Paraskevas Winery
The story of the Paraskevas family and its "connection" with wine and tsikoudia began in 1950 by their father, Ioannis Paraskevas. The family winery Paraskevas (siblings Nikos, George and Katerina Paraskevas) is located in the historic village of Sarchos, which is 22 km from Heraklion. Ioannis Paraskevas collected 40 acres of arable vineyards in Sarchos Malevizi, as well as in the broader area of the Prefecture of Heraklion. In 1973, a pioneer in his time, he built concrete wine tanks and presses of larger capacity.
Respecting tradition, in 2013, the new modern winery was established where the first wine was bottled. The first label was called "Ether". In 2015, Paraskevas Winery became a member of "Wines of Crete".
In all these years since its establishment, Paraskevas Winery has participated in two competitions, winning awards. The first competition was at the Thessaloniki International Fair in 2019, where the following three codes were awarded: Senses-Malagouzia, Archos-Vidiano-Moschato and Aspros Lofos-Vidiano. In 2021, with the assistance of the Cretan Prefecture, many Cretans took part in the DECANTER WORLD WINE AWARDS event, which took place in England and was attended by 56 countries. There, the Paraskevas family Winery won two awards for the taste and aroma of its wines. The silver award went to Vidiano-Aspros Lofos and the bronze to Archos-Liatiko-Moschato Spinas.
Finally, the grapes are harvested manually, during the harvest period and strictly from 05:00 am. until 11:00 am, while you can find Paraskevas wines in many shops, hotels and restaurants.
