Ammoudara beach
Ammoudara Beach is located in the west of the city of Heraklion. It starts from the river Giofyros estuary, behind the Pankritio Stadium. It extends for almost 7 kilometres along with the settlement with the same name up until the river Almyros estuary.
The beach is covered in sand, and that is where it got its name from. Due to its size, it offers many choices to any guest. There are parts of the beach that are very organised and many parts that remain untouched that offer seclusion. The east part of the beach is not organised at all, offering peace to those who prefer to enjoy their swim far from the crowds. In the central part of the beach, there are many beach - bars, and it is very organised. Young people mainly hang out there, and it is full of life at night. On the west of the beach, where there are many hotel units, there are also highly organised beaches.
Ammoudara is the ideal and top-rated destination for summer visitors since there is significant tourist development and it offers many choices and comforts. Many hotels, rooms to rent, taverns, restaurants, supermarkets, banks even a cinema operate here.
