Helidoni beach
The tiny Helidoni beach (also known as Porto Helidoni) is located just a few meters before reaching the historic rock of Paleokastro Rogdia, after Ellinoperasmata beach.
The beach is located at the base of the vertical coastline on the National Road Heraklion-Rethymnon. To reach the sea, one has to follow the ladder with the wooden stairs. The beach got its name from the many swallows that, from time to time, make their appearance in the area.
Due to the east direction of the beach, there are seldom waves. The beach is covered with fine pebbles, while in some places, there is sand. In the northern part of the beach, there is a canteen. Although small, Helidoni beach is organised with a few umbrellas and sunbeds. Its transparent turquoise waters and the large rocks at its ends make it ideal for moments of enjoyment and relaxation.
