Church of Agios Nikolaos
Agios Nikolaos is the patron saint of the traditional village of Tylissos, which is 14 km from Heraklion. The church was built in the late 19th century. It is a two-aisled church, and the second aisle is dedicated to Agios (Saint) Georgios. It is celebrated on December 6th and, on this day, fried cod with garlic is served.
The bell of Agios Nikolaos rang for the first time on December 5th, 1887. In fact, according to testimonies, it was heard as far as Gazi.
