The Municipal Art Gallery of Malevizi, in collaboration with the Municipality of Malevizi, proudly presents the exhibition "Permanent Collection, Donations", dedicated to the memory of the Gallery's late first curator, Chrysa Vathianaki.
As part of the opening ceremony, on Friday, July 31st, 2026, at 7:30 p.m., one of the Gallery's exhibition halls will officially be named the "Chrysa Vathianaki Hall", fulfilling the commitment of Mayor Menelaos Bokeas to honour an artist whose contribution left a lasting mark on both the Municipal Art Gallery and the cultural life of the region.
The exhibition showcases works by contemporary artists that have been donated to the Gallery since its establishment, forming the institution's permanent collection. The collection is the result of many years of dedicated effort by individuals whose knowledge, consistency, and vision helped shape its identity.
Among them, Chrysa Vathianaki played a pivotal role in establishing the Gallery's first collection and defining the core principles that continue to guide it today. Her contribution remains a valuable legacy for future generations.
The exhibition is the outcome of the systematic work carried out by the Supervisory Committee of the Municipal Art Gallery of Malevizi and curator Eleni Sapountzi, who have overseen the documentation, cataloguing, and organisation of the donations that make up the Gallery's permanent collection.
The exhibition features works by the following artists:
